mortality revisited

On my way home, there was a dead man on a busy street. The cops blocked the street, and the body was uncovered. When I witness the visual, three dimensional reminder of mortality, it makes my insides twist. I dropped on my knees and prayed for this man and my students ,who are celebrating their junior prom. There has been alot of death around me: A car accident and a train accident in my neighborhood. (Frightening warnings from my mind and God.)

The Tragedy of Julius Caeser

How bad ass is Antony?
He knows exactly what to do: give 'em a little shit, shake their hands, give a really ruthless soliloquy (Cry Havoc, and let slip the dogs of war.), turn Rome against them.

Haute Tension (Study 0)

Atmosphere is the name of it all in horror; you can have the greatest script and greatest actors, but with no atmosphere, you got nothing. Haute Tension (High Tension) does it with violence and edged tone. Don't miss the tracking shot behind the swing--an obvious homage to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974).

Horror Van: A French Citroen H-Van from the 1960s.

A new way to decapitate: Stick the head through the stairway rails, grab a dresser, and push the dresser into the temple of the victim--this will take the head clean off.

What's great about Aja's manipulation of the stalker genre is he takes the herione archetype of horror and joins it with the killer. Has the archetype been used to the point of amalgamation? Have the women of horror become as savage as the killers from whom they run.?

first study

We have to look at the vehicles of horror. Calling all people to bring into the conversation of the horror van. Model, country of origin, make, and year are important to this study. There must be a connotative meaning in them.
