Cloverfield review

Many critics are stating that Cloverfield is a gimmick pulled from The Blair Witch Project, and I have to say, "Thank God someone has extrapolated on the brilliant gimmick of The Blair Witch Project." Making a monster movie with The Blair Witch idea is perfect and completely necessary. It allows for us to care for the characters for once. When was the last time we cared about the small characters in a monster movie. Do we really care about Raymond Burr and Matthew Broderick?

The monster is shown just enough, and there is absolutely no explanation and there shouldn't be; after all, we have to be as confused as the characters because the audience needs to be close to them through the hand held camcorder. You need to experience Cloverfield in the theatre, and if you have ever enjoyed a Godzilla movie, it is essential to your monster movie vocabulary because it is the monster movie that all of the others have added up into.

Resident Evil 4 for the Wii

I know...I know you have it on Gamecube and you have it on PS2, but now you must have it on the Wii. By now you're a pro, so all of the pain in the ass battles you went through will be easier and more fun with that Wii controller. I tell you, they did us right by putting this one out on the Wii, and it's only 30 bones---GET IT.

Guitar Hero III

okay I finally bought this for PS3 and I was a bit hesitant at first, but let me say I bought it in December and I am finally writing about it because I just put it down after dominating with the Viking mother of all Viking mothers. I love this game and the song list is awesome. Make sure you go in practice mode to play "Sabotage" on bass, worth the price of admission.

Acme Novelty Datebook Volume 2: 1995 - Present

I like the first volume much better, but with that said the second volume in Chris Ware's sketchbook is more than a glimpse into a mind that will be remembered. I really enjoy the portraits in this book. Where volume one had many cartoon sketches, volume 2 is more portraits of real people and settings, so it is a matter of what you like in art. But I strongly suggest getting both volumes.

Moby Dick pop up book

This is such an incredible piece of art that I would love to see every classic piece of literature done this way: Don Quixote, Frankenstein, Dracula, Heart of Darkness (that would be a strange one to do as a pop up book, yes), or the Shakespeare tragedies.

I simply love this piece.
